Go Back To The Drawing Pad
by: Terry Matthews
We sometimes forget about the sheer enjoyment a good old
fashioned drawing pad can give - to young and old alike. And
it's a great stress reliever too.
Although there are always varying degrees of talent, most people
love to draw. People who are good at it usually do it more, but
there is something in it for everyone.
I still like to doodle on things when I'm stressed out or bored.
I’m not good at it, but it's something that's usually for my eyes
only and that's all that matters. I'm not trying to create a great
work of art. To me it's an outlet.
Children are especially in love with drawing just about anything
that comes to their mind, so you should make sure they always have
a drawing pad or two to keep them happy.
You'll be well-served to have more than one type of drawing pad.
I have paper ones that we use at home, and we also have one that is
on the computer. The ones on the computer are not easy to use in
the beginning, but once you get the hang of it you and your family
will love it.
We now live in a world that's totally dependent on computers,
and your children will be well-served if they know how to use them.
They'll have great fun with the drawing pad on the computer and
also pick up great computer skills that they can use in the
future.
You can also get a drawing pad that stays in the car. Though the
paper type will work for this, there are other types you could
consider. The trusty old Etch-a-Sketch is still a big hit with most
children. However, there are newer kinds that they can use which
might be easier for them, at least when they are young. These new
types use magnets in a pen that draws on a surface. They can be
erased and used over and over again. They are perfect for car
trips, and some even come with other activities built in.
No matter what type of drawing pad you choose, do make sure you
get the old fashioned paper type so that you'll have some memories
to hang on to. Let your children fill them up, and when they're
done, you can put them away.
There are many things you can save from your child’s life -
school work and such, but nothing shows off who they were and what
they loved at any age better than a drawing. They are easy to
store, and you can take them out any time you wish so you can
remember your child at whatever age it is that you want to
remember.
Drawing is a fantastic hobby for people of any age and talent
level. Sometimes it seems as we get older we forget about the
simple pleasure of getting out a drawing pad and letting our
imagination run wild.
